Teaching and EducationThe Institute of Medicine’s report, The Future of Emergency Care in the United States Health System, recommended that health care personnel be trained in Operations Management; a first and necessary step to achieve a goal that enables management science tools and techniques to be properly modified and applied to health care delivery in a way that reaps the maximum benefits. This recommendation, echoed by other organizations committed to seeing improvement in our health care delivery system, creates a demand for specialists trained in both health care delivery and operations management methodologies. Over the past decade Institute faculty have provided training and education to thousands of health care providers, through courses, seminars and publications. The Institute plans to expand its activities in this area and welcomes your thoughts on the types of education and training programs that would meet your needs.
